Hey guys, its only 6 weeks now ish until i get my big tank in my new house, but im wondering how to go about filtering a 400L? Will a big Eheim external (the one suitable for up to 600L) be enough or will the tank not have enough current in it to prevent algae and whatnot so is there a need for an internal filter or a powerhead to generate some flow/surface agitiation?

also a little side question, do heaters strong enough to heat a 400L exist or will i have to place 2 200W heaters in the tank?

Dont know how im gonna manage all the plugs associated with a massive tank (external filter, hood lights,LED moon lights,2 x heaters,powerhead/internal that makes 6 plugs..but hopefully 2 of those arent 100% necesary..like the moon lights)

i have two large tanks (one is about 580L the other nearer 700L) for the largest i have 2x 200w heaters an external Aquaone filter and a huge sump filter (theres only 4 fish in there but they are messy!)
for the 580L i have no heater in there (apart from really cold times in the winter where i throw in a 200w one) and a built in three chamber filtration system powered by a powerhead pump (eheim something one!) this tank contains small tropicals, about 150+ of them, and the filter does its job fine for those!
for both tanks i have large extention leads which take up to 8 plugs .

Yeah, from my reading on TFF it seems like it would certainly make sense to be researching the trade-offs of a sump vs. 2 large external cannisters. Two filtration systems always has the "backup" and the "alternating cleanings" advantage.
