Well it will be later on this year unless the gold gourami have a growth spurt that we will be upgrading.. not to a longer tank as we like the 4ft but a taller one..
How can i do it with minimal stress to the fish and what would I do about cycling?
before you ask.. no I have nowhere to cycle a tank and have a tank with fish in.. I have enough room for one tank..... oh no no I have room for 2 as the tank stand is a double where a tank can go on the bottom but I have a toddler lol

mature a bigger filter in your old tank first then use old gravel and as much water from old tank as possible to fill your new tank.
I find an old cool box good for keeping stock warm while you do it-remember to leave the light off when you put fish in new tank and turn back on next day

I wont be getting a new filter or anything. im using the existing as they are all much too powerful for this tank. i cant put this filter on 3/4.. if I did it would be a whirl pool haha. and my heater is 300W.. so I would just really put everything I have in this one in that one.

just put your filter in the new tank, but don't add any more fish for a while. the filter should have enough bacteria on it as its already running in your other tank. also put aside probally a full day for doing it good luck

Thanks T, I wont be doing it for a while.. dont know what tank yet.. depends on the money... we have a stand for a 4ft 12 wide tank.. dont know weather to got a 18 high which is £50 or to just get a whole new setup which would be £160 aaarrrrgh lol will decide the end of the summer.. im going to use freecycle to try and get a nursery tank up and running in the mean time..
