I have been trying to give away my platys and someone wants them but she wants me to post.... How do I do it? It all seems very confusing to me!

Thanks Jack

Write the address on their side and a stamp on the head

Nah - what you need is a poly box (ebay) and a bag (Ebay). You then bag the fish and secure the top (the way they do in the lfs) and then stick it in the poly box with some filling to keep it from moving round too much. Wrap it and post it but send it next day delivery to give the fish a fighting chance

Forgot - make sure you only fill the bag about a third full of water

If you JUST happen to have some oxygen laying around fill it with that instead of air

How much do you think it will cost for the postage of each box?a nd how many platy fry could i fit in a box?

Jack

I would think the postage would be less than a tenner - the boxes are quite light - the most weighty thing is the water.
And as for fry in a box - it again depends on how big a box/bag you get but fry are tiny so you could fit "loads" in a bag/box combination I would think

What you could do with doing is getting a bag of water and weighing it and then go to RoaylMail.com and do a price enauiry on the weight plus a bit - and get a rough idea of how much it will be

Would i need to by a heat pack or can they survive without one?

If you have no other option than the post, I would advise you to use the special delivery service as it has a guaranteed delivery before 1.30 the following day.

Is it not illegal to post fish in the royal mail???

i think you can post fry though and lets face it are they really gonna check and if they do could they tell tell difference between adult and fry
