I will be moving to Idaho for college at the begining of ganuary. It's only about a three hour drive from my house. My parents really don't want to take care of my fish wile I'm gone. I also am leaving my bunny home, so that is probubly part of the reason. I've had my bunny since I was nine, so obviously I wasn't thinking about college when I bought her. I'm very attached to my fish and I would like to take them with me. I don't want to re-cycle my tank when I get there, should I bring most of my tank water with me? I have a five gallon (I swear it holds more) bucket that I can seal it in. Should I keep my gravel and my filter mediea submerged so as not to kill the good bacteria? I would like to get there the day before I move in, sould I not do that? How cold does it have to be for the bacteria in the filtration media to die? If I do end up getting there the night before I move in should I bring all of that stuff into the hotel with me ( I will definitly bring the fish in). It deos get below zero regularly at night in the winter there.

ten gallon tank
4 fancy tailed guppies
1 green cory cat
1 albino cory cat

I will be getting a few more cories.

Thax for the advice in advance.

What I personally did when I had to move the fish in my 55 gallon tank from Oregon to Wisconsin was:

Purchased two 5 gallon tanks
Purchased a cooler large enough to hold the two tanks
Purchased a car plug in adapter
Prayed

It went very smoothly and I had no losses. All I had to do what plug in the car adapter, then plug in both the tanks, and everybody did fine.

God Bless,
Joshua
