how do i get driftwood from a beach

at the weekend i got the perfect peice of driftwood from the beach that does not need weighing down and is a shape i have been looking for for a long time.
how do i get this ready for my f/w tank.

I'd say soak it in freshwater for about a month or more with water changes every few days to get the salt out of there. You can also boil it to help get the process started.

Definitely boil it. Need to kill any organisms that may be present.

Freshwater soaking should kill anything in there after a month but boiling never hurts.
