How Do I Cycle My Tank?

i have already pit in the salt, and dechloranator now i just need directions for what to do now. should i turn on my filter and heater yet? monday my uncle is giving me 3 guppys to help cycle the tank but what should i do?

Can your uncle hold off on giving you the guppys? do a search for fishless cycling on the forum. I've just done it and it saves the fish the stress of high ammonia and nitrite levels - i.e. increasing the survival chances of your fish massively.

It means being patient for a couple of weeks (no fish until it's finished), but it is well worth it.

Before recommending zebra danios I think we need to find out if the tank is at least 20 US gallons and if seth is actually interested in keeping zebra danios going forward. And that would really ideall have to be a school of 6.
