Are you putting convits in with Tiger Barbs?
Yes I know they can Barbs need to go in with other semi-aggressive fish as they are semi-aggressive. Have you already got them? And if so do you have any pic's?
I have a Barb Tank (Tigers and green Tiger Barbs) and I am still tossing up which fish to put in with them and I thought I'd ask you about your tank because Convicts was one of my options I am not sure whether to go with Convicts or Trichogaster trichopterus (the more aggressive Gouramis’) .
Are convicts a top middle or bottom dweller?
I know the Barbs will love the planted tank and love the hiding spots.

i have a pair of calico convicts in my four foot tank and i have tried adding a few barbs and they do seem to get on well with my convicts UNTILL they breed which is about every 4 to 6 weeks.
plants and convicts are not really a good idea as they like to dig and will shred your plants.
every time my cons breed they clean an area about 6 times as big as the place where they lay the eggs and the male will not stop cleaning untill he has removed all the java fern and gravel from his chosen spot.
i have huge amounts of java fern in my tank but the tank will not win any prizes as at times due to the convicts hard work it looks a mess but they seem happy

If the convicts breed the tiger barbs are likely to take a beating.
The convicts are also likely to uproot plants if they are breeding when they dig pits etc. Also they may "nibble" on finer leaved plants.
With 2 convicts and 9 barbs you'll want to break up the tank as much as you can, lots of rocks and wood, plants you could try, but you're more likely to gain success with fake plants.
