how deep is peoples sand in their tank, 2 inches, 3 inches? more?

mines a good inch, almost two inches in somplaces, maybe more. when i get my clown loaches they'll move it around to their own accord.

In the community tank it's about 1.5", the mbuna tank is 2" or more where they pile it up, and then there are bare spots, basically it's however they feel like they want it.

i heard it could create toxic gas if its over 2" is this true?

Sounds like song lyrics!

How deep is your sand, Whoa
1", 2", 3" More! Baby.... How deep is your sand.

- Back to crazy house for timmystood.

Anyhow - My Community tank is about 1"
My Malawi Tank is about 3-3.5"
My Nano Tank is about 2"
My Fish Only Marine tank is 1.5"
My Fry tank is gravel.

the actual topic title was meant to be how deep is your love (im sure many people are familiar with the song) so i was hoping people would realise.

anyway iv just got a trigon 190 and after looking for some cheap black sand (not finding any, but still open if people know of some anywhere) and im going with normal sand again and its about 1.5" in my other tank.

argos play sand again if i cant find some black sand, argos owes the people on this forum something for the amount of custom we have provide with our play sand recommendations :p

Here here. Anyone on here work for Argos marketing dept? LOL!

edit: second thoughts, lets keep it secret or they might raise their prices in line with LFS's. LOL!

you can have your sand as deep as you want it just means you will have to do a little extra maintenance to make sure pockets of gas dont form. you can either mix your sand a little when you do a water change or get some bottom dwellers who will sift through the sand looking for food etc they churn the sand up ok. obviously wouldnt if it was a few inches deep but no one really has need for sand that deep

Mine is as deep as my mbuna want it to be!

I like mine no more than 2 inches or less than an inch. You don't want a ton because that just makes vaccing a pain.

Yeah, they are quite the little earth movers.
