How clean is the water in your tank? If you say it is spot on and clean, how many of you would be willing to drink a cup full of the water from your tank? I would have no problem doing so with my full tank. Because it is full of just air right now. Doing a total overhaul. Trying to make it a lot easier to take care of. 55g water storage/settling barrale to get the water were I want it before it goes into the tank. Putting in a bottom filter just to circalate water through the substrate, no filters just powerheads, setting up or trying to set up a hang on tank algae grower set up (so the algae grows in it not the tank), already have a large canister filter and setting up a drainage set up to do water changes a lot easier.

TBH I wouldn't drink it no matter how clean as there is always fish waste somewhere, my tank is very heavily planted, not a square inch of substrate exposed so should be extra clean but still wouldn't drink it. I have to say there have been times when I took my eye off the ball when syphoning and got a good mouth full tho lol.

I've done that so many times .

Now when I do a water change I like to have a towel folded up a few times on the floor so if it happens I can spit it out on the towel haha!

I've often said that if society broke down and we could no longer rely on our mains water, we could use our tanks as small water purification facilities!

I don't think I'd drink it if I had the choice not too, but in an emergency I would, and I'm sure I'd be fine.

I wouldn't unless I was dying of thirst. Sure, we try to keep our levels good, but you don't know what else is in there, especially since we dechlorinate it.

I have a filter feeding bamboo shrimp who feeds off organisms in the water. I have never fed him. Obviously there's enough "things" living in there to keep him going.

I personally wouldn't drink it even if i was dying, just cus of the bacteria that could possibly be living in it now there have been times I used my syphone with out the pump and got in my mouth (and spit on my carpet without thinking lol)

I wouldn't drink it - but we'd all be better off if we drank RO water...

I saw some research a few months ago (can't remember where, so please don't ask me!) that said humans should not drink RO water as a regular thing; it's too pure and disrupts the natural mineral balance of the body (or something like that).

I spat mine back in the tank on a few occasions lol.

RO water is much better than standard tap water. Flouride, chlorine, etc etc is totally unnecessary yet added to our water, and we wonder why diseases such as cancer and other unexplained things are around.

A good friend of mine is a homeopath who's actually banned from a certain radio station after having a debate with the head of the north wests water quality control and asking him that if (as he argued) we have some of the 'best water quality in the world' - why he had a reverse osmosis filter fitted to his home water system... Enough said really.

The water in my tank is probably cleaner and purer than the stuff that comes out of the tap.

Actually Fluoride and Chlorine both have pretty necessary purposes, Fluoride is proven to prevent tooth decay but on the flip side too much of it causes dental fluorisis in Children which is becoming increasingly common. Chlorine inhibits the production of pathogens and kills bacteria. Also consuming pure water on a regular bases INCREASES the risk of cancer and other age-related illnesses as pure water depletes certain parts of the body of minerals, this leads to the creation of free radicals in the body.

Personally I think RO water tastes like crap, give me a mineral water any day.

I'd prefer possibly dying of something that may or may not be in the water, than definitely dying of thirst :p

I'd rather drink aquarium water than lake water. I know we dont really know what's in either, but at least with aquarium water you can rule out birds and animals pooping in it etc.
