I have a 12g tank with 8 Endlers in it...nothing else! 1 of the Endlers got moved into a hospital tank the other day due to fin rot so that left 7 Endlers in the tank. Well I only have 6 in the tank today . I have moved plants, checked round the back of things, I have even checked around the floor of the tank thinking maybe it'd jumped out while I had the tank lid open at some point...nothing!! Where on earth can a fish go...how do you loose a fish???

I've had 2 fish go missing..... I think their tankmates ate them because the temperature in the tank was higher than normal. I hope your Endler turns up though! If you have other pets like dogs or cats, maybe they ate him? :(

A fish the size of an endler would take no time at all to decompose once it had died, and with a disease present in the tank this could be a logical answer if you can't find any body elsewhere.

Have you looked inside the filter?

I have two dogs but they don't access to the tank, the tank has a decent lid and is up out their reach anyway.

I haven't looked inside the filter, do you really think one could get in it??

I'd search around the filter too, under, beside, behind... seems to be where anything missing ends up in my tank.

yes it could be in the filter, also look inside your decorations if they have holes in them.

Found it!!!

I have the Interpret PF1 filter and it has the flow adjuster on the front, it was caught in the section where the adjuster is tail first...dead obviously :( Removing it has to one of the most disgusting things i've done in a while  . Aww I'm really gutted to have lost it. :-(

Thank you for helping, i'd never of thought of looking there.

Believe me fish easily get caught in the filter .... Ive even found them still alive in there!!! Lol.
Usually other fish eat them and they de-compose quite quickly.
If your fish has been de-composing id suggest substantial water change.

I presently has a guppy fry in my sump.. I'll get it out tomorrow..
