How Can I Make The Water Soft?

Once I get my RO Until hooked up, I'm going to SLOWELY introduce RO Water into my 300L.

I'm talking 10 Litres of RO in my 80L water changes.

Then once that stabilises, It will be 20L in 80L etc. Will possibly take a year before I'm at a 50/50 split.

Well, if you got away with it once, you could argue you could do it again krib, but I'd not be happy about it if they were my fish. Softly softly is the key here IMO, doing something similar to what Peter describes.

pH is irrelivant (well nearly, it is important that it is stable and about 6.5 realy... Should be close to, but not less than that with the target KH). It is the KH that affects firtility rates. You want to target about 2-3dKH and take it from there. Sounds like most (95% ish if the KH kit is broad range) of the tank water in your tank will be RO, not tap though with your situation :/

I dont want to put that much in at the same time again. But, taking down my pH will take my Kh down, correct? I just odnt know what to do. I have tried everything. It breaks my heart to see the my attempts at breeding them go bad. I had another angel lay today, and i know the eggs wont make it ( i have a TRIO of angels, not even kidding, 1 male, 2 females)

That is not something I've come across before  . Yes and no, dropping the pH can lower the KH (when using RO), or it can leave it alone and have the pH re-bound (as with chemicals).

I'd start a course of 10% daily waterchanges with a 25:75 mix of RO to tap. Wait for the tank to stabilise on a new KH and pH reading, and then up the ammount of RO to lower the KH gradually towards the target. There are many things that affect the pH reading, but only a few that will affect the KH, so it is more reliable to judge the effects of the added RO with the KH test kit :good:

Did you try diluting down a water sample with RO to get the actual KH reading?
