no one has mentioned it but it seems your tank is in a bit of an open area. you might want to put a backround on either side as your fish could feel a bit besieged. most people usually have their tank against a wall

oh it actually is against a wall... its just tan colored. im going to get some more powerful lights... max 18 watts each :S.... but better than the other.

ok, but guys the parrot is OK as it measures probably 2.5 inches long... and the plec, its tiny as well. 100 gall for a plec! omg what an exaggeration... ok o knew about the cories and i will soon get them.

I see you've got some excellent advice for the 30g tank, so I hope you don't mind me answering this point.

It's not an exaggeration that a common plec will eventually need at least 100g - liposarcus pardalis (the species most commonly sold as the common plec) will easily reach 18", some reach 2ft. He will probably grow about an inch a month if not more (ours grew from 2" to nearly 5" in the space of a month and a half), and will easily outgrow that 10g tank in the next couple of months. They make a lot of waste too and will need heavy filtration if they're not going to pollute your tank.

I'm not trying to lecture, it's just we've been there and done it and had to rehome our chocolate albino common a while ago (we were told he'd only reach 12" max).

The good news is they're really impressive when they get big so if you can afford to house him properly, he'll be a cracking fish! I saw a nearly 2ft common in the LFS as a hand in and he was more than a bit gorgeous.

ok, the point of the plec was to make my 10 gal cleaner, but you said they pollute... hmm, does anyone suggests an algea eater that are not chinease algea eaters? my parrot is kinda aggressive to those... or anything that look like them.
