Hello, I have a new female betta arriving on Friday I'm very excited, just the tank doesnt look so great I'd like your ideas on improvement (You will notice no filter but thats on its way) Heres the tank...

The tanks alright, and i cut back the plant in the back corner as it grew so madly out of control. Hopefully the cave has a big enough hole to go in and out of, but maybe when the plants grow it wont look so bare, anyway commets/ideas please :)
(I want the new betta to be very happy!)

the bogwood i have is too big for the tank and i have no time to get a moss ball :/
I just think the tank looks 'boring'

Actually i have alot of floating plants in a tub in the sunlight for the moment, they were in shimmers tank when he was in it and he loved it. The surface of teh tank was coated in lots of plant stems and stuff. But im unsure the betta will like it.

Yes, could cut the bogwood but i wouldnt know where to put it, i dont want it too crowded.

yyh bettas like floating plants. i put the bit of bog wood in my tank resting ontop of the coconut cave this is my bettas tank

It needs some more stuff in it, it's a bit bare. I wouldn't worry about it being crowded, it will give her lots to explore and places to hide. A few silk plants would bulk it out until the liveones grow. Some pebbles arranged 'artfully' on the sand would be nice. Some of that more twiggy wood, arranged up the tank?
Is that the 14 or 21l version of that tank? My friend has 2 goldfish in the 14l version  (from p@h-no surprise) and I keep telling her they ought to be in a pond and I've have the tank off her ;)

add a LOT of tall stem plants( not just one or two), like elodea and/or camboba. bettas LOVE plants. the more the better!
overall looks great! but it does need some taller plants to make it look finished (and the new boy will appreciate them)
cheers

From the ideas ive been given i think i have an idea. I have some elodea about 6 stems of it already in another tank i might put it int he betta tank only thing is it looks as if its dying. But the betta tank is closer to the window so the plants grow great. Anyway i might get a little peice of bogwood stand up in the tank in the front corner, add all the floating plants (Unsure atm.) Maybe add the elodea instead of the amazon sword?
Thanks for the pic kizno1 might do that but unsure.

i prefere the other side of the divider in my tank i still need to get more wood for it though.

if lighting is an issue then dont opt for the sword. it will most likely die on you. you should try the elodea from the other tank. prune the bottom a bit and plant the tops (newer and healthier section of the plant). it will regrow from this procedure. in not time hopefully, it will reach the surface and then you just snip the top and replant until you have a forest! you also can try to let it float around in the tank and grow that way before you plant it (it will grow either planted or floating).
sounds like a nice tank! looks great so far!

wow! Stunning tank, just got some bogwood peices there small but just make it look a little better i guess lol. Will post a pic when its redone in abit.
thanks!
