How Big Of A Tank Do Chichlids Need?

Hi I want to get some chichlids for my 55 gallon tank. Is my tank to small? I just emailed a guy that has 2 4-5 inch chichlids but was not sure about which kind they were. Do must chichlids need a tank of over 55 gallons? And does anybody have any helpful information about chichlids? Thanks everybody.

Thanks guys those links were very helpful. The only thing is I the guy that owns them doesn't know what kinds of Africian Chichlids they are and I want to buy them off of him. I emailed him and asked him for some pics but he hasn't responded yet.

Yup, I would definately get pics first, you wouldn't want to end up with some extremely aggressive cichlids like kenyi's, or some of the hap tank busters.

Definately get the pics or positive id's - the main problem with African cichlids is compatibility. Tankmates have to be researched and thought through very carefully.
