I am do a 120 gallon tank with semi-aggressive gourami and angel fish(maybe some rainbow fish)...i want a peacock eel and rope fish...but how big do rope fish actually get?

rope fish get to 2 feet I believe. look in the fish profiles.

the following is taken from Aqualog Polypterus by Frank Schafer

According to CLOFFA, most of the confusion surrounding this nominally upto
about 90cm long species (aquarium specimens never grow larger than 25-30cm) is with reguard to its scientific genus name.....

I hope that helps to clarify the point

Actually, I would have to disagree with Schafer's statement as I have personally kept Erpetoichthys calabaricus that reached 61cm (24 inches) and were still growing, albeit slowly. There is also no confusion over the scientific name....the 'other' name - Calamoichthys calabaricus was discarded a long time ago.
