Hi everyone,

I made the mistake of overstocking my guppy tank and last week lost four guppies and the one pygmy cory I had left from a small school I had from a while back.

The tank now only has two guppies left and both are slightly under 3/4" long and still have the female shaped fin. Since they were in the tank with males, is there any chance guppies that small can become pregnant already?

Thanks.

One of them has been in the tank for 2+ months.

Up until a few days back, the temp has been around 79 degrees (26 C) and I lowered it to 75 (24) because of the fit/tail rot. So I take it there is a chance she could be pregnant?

eh, okay. I'll keep an eye on them. One has a tummy that looks rounder than the other guppy's. It's not squared off by any means though. The fish doesn't have a gravid spot from side view - is lack of that mean she's just more "curvy" (lol) rather than pregnant?

Don't be too surprised to find that neither one is carrying fry. At a small size like that they might not be fertile yet.

Yah! Good. I don't want fry. I notice now that the tummy on one is pointed. Does this mean anything?

It could mean that she is a late developing he.
The fish looks thinner today. Much flatter tummy. I don't see any fry in the tank. In a few minutes I'm going to change out some of the water since the tank is being treated for a fungus and will see if anyone is hiding or if any dead fry are found.
