House Of Pisces

I'm treating myself to a trip to House of Pisces today because i've been a good boy.

Let me know how it is, I might make a trip there sometime but getting trains places get expensive and when I consider the cost of delivery from somewhere like Wholesale Tropicals it doesn't seem worth travelling when you don't know if they're going to have an interesting selection in stock.
I am planning on going to East Lothian Aquatics next week though (Lothian buses go all the way from my door!) I'm hoping it'll be a bit more complete!

Well, i went all that way and it was closed.........................

Only kidding, it was open, Shelagh. It was just as i remember. More tanks than you could shake a stick at, more dead fish than you would expect floating around, and i forgot to take my own algae scraper so i could hardly see what was in a lot of the tanks.

There was also a few very large fish in very small tanks which made me cringe slightly.

That aside, the selection of fish is second to none (probably due to the vast amount of tanks). He's got pretty much everything, and lots of them.

Despite the dead fish and algae tainted view of some of the tanks, that shop has something which excites me, i don't know if its just the sheer volume of fish?

Anyway, no purchases made today, but i'm glad i went. It's satisfying even just to walk around and leave empty-handed.

Something which is funny though, they have a big marine room which i remember was being biult last time i was there, but it has a big notice on the door

"NO ENTRY! IF YOU WISH TO PURCHASE MARINE FISH, PLEASE ASK A MEMBER OF STAFF TO SHOW YOU OUR HUGE SELECTION (HUNDREDS IN STOCK)"

I can't think why they would have hundreds of marines in stock but not on display to the customers, other than at special request? Anyone?

i have noticed a few more dead fish lately TBH, but saying that there never seems to be more than 2 memebers of staff there at any given time ( tho i generally go in the week) and as for the algae well, spose im acustomed to it now , the large fish in small tanks,no i dont like that either, but they never seem to be there the next time i go in soo.
i didnt even know he had a marine room,i know there a room at the back that says no entry ask staff or something like that, and i often see people come into the shop, but dont see them in there,so maybe they all dissapear in there?
he does seem to have alot of fish in there that have been there for a long time,ie, large oscars, huge plecs ( at the back) and it annoys the icing off me that all the for sale tanks, cover some of the fish for sale tanks..but room is at a premium in there.
there were builders in on friday making a heck of a racket, no idea what they were doing, and Stewart wasnt around to ask, anyway glad a you enjoyed your trip to my bit of the world, only wish i had seen the post earlier,i would have met you there,would have been lovely to meet you and i could have picked your brains all the way round the shop

Its the room at the back which you talk about which is the marine room. I don't know why you are only allowed in at special request. Doesn't make any sense to me, unless there just isn't the staff to manage it?

Maybe there's no security cam or something, and staff cant see into the room from other places? so anything could happen? maybe?

lol, yes that could be it, but i cant imagine who would benefit from anyone walking out with a clownfish stuffed up their jumper
BTT i always log on at this time, its nice and quiet.. which is rare here,believe me
