So here's the dilemma, I split the tank my old betta was in and added a second one. The divider is see through and now they're flaring at each other. They can't get to each other but they can see each other. Will this flaring die down? Is it only because it's a new set up?

well bettas are agressive by nature so no,its healthy for bettas to flare at each other although im not sure it wouldnt stress them out if it was all the time.

I'd imagine they'd get used to each other! Give them a reasonable amount of time to simmer down! However if it continues and one or the other start getting stressed u may want to somehow block view of each other! But being fighters they'll still continue to flare from time to time! Each has its own territory and should learn over time the others not going to invade it however they'll still be in sight of each other and warn one another from time to time! they're pretty Hardy so as long as it doesn't effect general health it's something they'll just learn do deal with!!

Thanks everyone! I heavily planted the divider, they can see each other in one spot but that's about it.

As long as each male has sufficient room to get away from the divider and hiding places on their side, they should be perfectly fine.  Flaring is a healthy exercise for them in moderation.  Once they have gotten used to the idea that there is another male beside them, they will simmer down.  Give them some time.  Blocking the divider with plants is a great way to calm them down a bit although if they really wanted to go over there and flare at the neighbor, plants are not going to stop them.  LOL  What size tank did you divide?  I have a 10 gallon divided 3 ways for my males.  Works out great and everyone is nice and happy.

I have an about 7 or so gallon tank split in half, they have plenty of hiding space, it's been about 24 hours and every time I look up at them they're flaring.

It can easily take up to a week for them to be completely comfortable with another male in that close of proximity to them so give them some time
