Is there a difference between hose and tap water? Because i am planning on getting a large tank and am thinking of the easiest way to fill it up..

Im not sure of the difference, but when i filled my 55 gallon i used a hose, and everything was fine. I guess it depends if the hose hasbeen used with any chemichals

A hose will be fine. For large tanks, they are really the only way to go. Check into the Pythons. They work great although I don't use mine for taking water out. It's a whole lot better than carrying 5 gallon buckets.

Yeah thats what i do 5 gallon buckets. I filled my 55 with 5 gallon buckets it sucked, So im glad i know about the hose now.. Thanks everyone

I've seen hoses sold stating they are not drinking water safe on them. Go to an r.v. or camping shop for drinking water safe hose, they only cost a few bucks more. They must have a reason for sayin not drinking water safe.

That being said, I used a non-drinking water safe hose for quite a while to fill tanks. The only reason I switched was because I was driving by an rv shop. It didn't make any difference, the fish were all fine and still are. Now I have 2 hoses strung across the basement, can drain & fill at the same time.

I drank from water hoses all summer long when I was a kid, & I'm fine. :alien:

I think the only difference in the non drinking hoses is that they are made of stuff that you can kind of taste when you drink from them. It won't hurt you though. I also used to drink from them all the time when I worked construction.
