I have a few clumps of Hornwort in my tank, and when I saw they had no roots I looked them up saw they were a floating plant. I still have one clump I planted in my sand but the other 3 I have free floating around the tank seem to be browning a little. If I have to add co2 to the tank because of all the plants I have, I'll just move some over to my new tank later today. I dont know if its harder for them to get nutrients while floating around the tank compared to dug into the dirt

They get loads more light floating so prob why they're turning brown mate.

Huh... I thought light would be good for them and help them grow a little faster, guess I dont know much about plants :D I'll squish them together and plant them in the morning, I just started cycling a new tank so my hands are ammonia stained and after I wash them then they'll be soap <.<

I usually have medium to bright lighting and find they grow a couple of inches per day.

Floating just gives a lot more light so you may find its too high at the surface.
