Hoping Someone Is Awake!

Added sand to my tank today, its still very cloudy 6 hours later, but I don't want to leave my fish in their bucket, are they ok to be added before it clears? Thanks!

should be fine, did you wash the sand well before you put it in

It was washed thoroughly, I should say it is slightly clearer than it was. Was just worried they'll choke/suffocate in it.

They'll be fine, ive done it before, the sand should just sift though their gills, if you watch cories on sand you'll see them obviously looking for food and dispelling the sand through their gills, would be more worried about it getting into your filter, should settle soon though

Great thanks guys, put my mind at ease. I've put tights over the intake so hopefully that'll keep most of it out.

I would only worry about your filter if you can feel the particles in the water.

It's just clouding, nothing to the touch, tights are on there just in case. Fish are in, seem happy enough, and clearing up nicely. Time for some sleep!

Probably just particles left over even though it was thoroughly rinsed...No worries as anything left over will get picked up by water changes over time.

It took almost 2 days for my tank to settle. But it also has over 50 pounds of sand lol. As shovelman said, water changes will take care of the residual.

I had one 15kg bag, so about 33Ibs. No water changes have been neccesary to clear it luckily! I woke up and it was almost crystal. Fair bit of debris on the sand tho so it'll need a small change soon anyway.
