Have had 175 litre tank for nearly two years. I hoover once a week but take out all the bogwood and other hardware. Is this common practice to remove these or do most people not bother?

I dont usually take any decor out while doing this, unless it needs to be cleaned because of algae, or when rescaping the tank. which i do about 3-4 times a year.
Just hoovering around your decor is fine, but i'd suggest doing a full hoover every 3-4 weeks, to pick up any left over food and waste, which can cause problems. :good:

I dont take out the decor either i just hoover the places that needs to be cleaned.

If you have sand or fine gravel you could get Malaysian trumpet snails. They'll eat most things that people remove with hoovering, and they usually stay in the substrate during the day and come out at night and clean the tank. :good:
