is there such a thing that will remove the fish poop and debris without removing too much water as well, no idea if there is such a thing but would love to be able to keep the bottom of the tank clean

there is a devise at p@h that attaches to an air pump and sucks up the debris into a little cotton bag, the water goes through the cotton bag so it doesn't remove any water at all. I have one, it's an old version that belonged to my Dad from years ago but the modern design is still the same.

To be completely honest though, I much prefer the vac that removes water too. I've tried the other thing from my Dad and the cotton bag ends up full of gravel aswell as debris so it's pretty useless. Takes too long aswell

Since you should be changing your water at least once a week, just do it with your water change.

When I had my pleco poo factory I used a turkey baster to suck up all that extra poo. I'd just squeeze it into the net that was over a bucket, strain it once again then pour the water back in the tank.

Trust me, I did NOT need to do a water change every day, but with a sand substrate I needed to get that pleco poo off the surface every. single. day.

LOL we do change the water every week and the tank is nicely balanced on all readings but we seem to have the same poo machine as above and as they're on sand too it's very noticeable - makes you want to turn the light off sometimes not on, would've liked something that would whip it off but never mind, just have to resign to the tank looking nice and poo free once a week....or put gravel in there instead of sand!
