Today I went to petsmart and bought a 'honey sunset dwarf gourami'. I asked the (teenage)workers there if it was just a honey gourami and they paused for like 10 seconds and said uh....um...yeah,yeah I think so. Heres a picture of him/her? (sorry for the quality). When I was looking at honey gouramis on the internet I saw that males of some type of honey gourami species have a blue coloration under the mouth and down the 'neck'. I also read that honey sunset dwarf gourami's only get to be 1.5 inches???? I'm also thinking about getting more how many more do you think I could add? My tank has 4 guppies and 4 peppered cories and its a 20 gallon High tank. Could you also tell me if its male or female? I think it might be a male. Its also a little more red than the picture shows.

these are honey gouramis - they are also known as red robin gouramis

The males have a pointed top fin as in pic females are rounded fins

My female red robins go really pale (like washed out faded ) when mature

Thats what mine is :) What do you think mine is, male or female? My gourami is red and colorful like a male but the topfin/dorsal fin is round on the tip :S

Whats the max amount of these that you can keep together?

click my babies :)

Yours might not be mature yet but if it has a rounded top fin then its a female

amount you can keep together just depends on the size of the tank - i have 7 red robins and 5 honeys (yellow ones) together with no probs but they are in my 300 litre community tank

If you are having a few just make sure you have plenty of plants and some caves as thats what they like

Now the color has darkened on her(call her that for now) and she mostly looks redish brown, mostly brown.
