Looking for advice, my honey gourami is very sick.

Its just lying on its side, and does the odd backflip or tries to swim.

I have onll had it 2 days, it was fine looking when i got him from the LFS. It was fine last night and was feeding fine, but found him in this state this morning.

The tank has been set up around a month, it was cycled after two weeks (fishless cycle)

Its a 15gallon tank with 6 glolight tetras and 4 harlequins. These are all doing well and healthy.

Just checked the water - 0 ammonia, 0 nitrite and 10 nitrates.

I have since done a 20% water change incase it helps, and the tank is at 25 degrees C.

Any one got any answers.

I dont think it will come back from this - should i put it out of its misery?? :-(

I dont have a quarantine tank - but after this experiance i will be setting one up.

Really sorry you lost the fish.
What temperature is the tank? Gouramis are really susceptible to bacterial diseases im afraid. I would have a word with the shop and take a sample of water in so they can see there was nothing wrong with your tank.

The tank temp is at 25C.

Yeah i'll take a water sample in and talk to them.

Yeah i had read on here that they are quite prone to bacterial infections.

It was a lovely looking fish as well, it was a gold honey with lovely orange colour running through the fins.

But after that i'm put off by them.

Dont be put off by them. I too had that same thing happen to me. Some fish just dont acclimate well. The fish could have been sick when it was purchased at the lfs, and the change is what eventually did it in.

If youg et more then up your temp to nearer 30c
