Yesterday i noticed my Honey D had a grey discolour around his head and back fin. the colour has always been present but never to this extent. all so the colour of the fish has dulled and now swims on a 45 degree angle most og the time. My golden algae eater has begun to attack him after a month of harmony. i completed a 30% water change on Monday after which i really noticed all this happening. the tank has had poor water quality in the past but i believe it is stable now. Help i have no idea if for what this disease is.

Can you tell us what size tank you keep him in?
What other tank mates besides the golden algae eater does he have?
How often do you change the water, and how much at each time?

Have you cycled your tank (takes about 6 weeks)?
What are your readings of Ammonia, Nitrite and Nitrate?

Is your tank heated?
Have you had your gourami a long time or is he fairly new?
Have you added anything new to the tank recently (last 6 weeks)?

Is he staying mainly at the top of the tank or the bottom?
Is he gulping/breathing laboured?

Have you noticed any white stringy poop?
Is he still eating?

Answers to these questions could be helpful trying to figure out what's wrong with him.

Along with answering all of the above, can you possibly get a picture? I would re-home the algae eater ASAP if it has been attacking the fish. As they age they stop eating algae as much & start going after other fishes slime coat.

thank you for your feed back,my internet has been down after i posted. since my post a local pet store diognosed the fish had dwarf gourami iridovirus and put it down. i am unsure if my other fish in the tank have been infected. the tank is 34L heated at 30 degres. there are three fish that i had in the tank with the dwaf, an angel fish, fighting fish and the algae eater. both the Angel and eater munched on the dwalf but the only fish acting strange is the fighter. the PH levels in the tank sit at around 6, i change the water once a week around 30%, and introduced a pieace of drift wood a week before the dwalf begn to discolour.
