Homemade Melafix

Hi
Read somehere on the internet that melafix is just a 1% tea tree oil solution and that you can make it yourself for a fraction of the price using essential tea tree oil (dirt cheap on ebay). Was thinking of doing this, just wondering has anyone else tried using 'homemade melafix' or know of any reason why this could'nt be done.

really would you really trust putting in something in to your tank with your fish that you would have made your self i couldnt do that, i have never acctually heard of anyone doing it any way, plus look at the ingriedients on the back of a melafix bottle, there a bit more than tee tree oil in there

quite a lot of people make their own - its quite safe if you follow the same combination of ingredients.
