my aquarium needs some new decorations but i dont want to go out and spend $50 on decorations. is there anything at home that i can make other than rocks?

It's really just up to your imagination and how you want your tank to be. I am not to creative so i stick with plan plants and cheap decorations. It looks nice and I am sure the fish dont mind.

Something that I've always thought was quite cool, and intend to do myself at some point is to have a 'tunnel' under the substrate. Obviously this will probably only be used by bottom dwellers and smaller fish, if at all, and you will need quite a deep substrate as well. It's simple to do - you just need a length of tubing that you should be able to find in any hardware store.

Just a possibility.

Try you Pound/$ Store or Warehouse, Have a look in their Floral Section. Nearly All teh fake Plants can be used in a tank. And the Plastic is Usuallly Softer than Aquarium Plants.

Another good thing is you can take bits off and change them around.

I'm in the process of turning a piece of PVC pipe into a tunnel for my aquarium. I've taken my gravel substrate not in my tank and used aquarium sealant to put them on. That way it'll blend in better, as opposed to looking like a piece of PVC pipe in an aquarium.

i've also heard of ppl taking green garbage bags, shredded it and tying it at hte end to a weight and then putting in the fishtank :) looks like a green plant :D i want to try it myself sometimes :) ur only losing a garbage bag for it :D

Cute,

I have seen this at an LFs, For the Puffers Tank. It Looked like Seaweed and very cool.

They Had across the surface of the tank and weighed down.

cool!!! so it DOES work! wow, i should try that...do you think i could put some of that in the breeding tank for my bettas :D

Try it, It would help the female to hide.

Get access to a kiln and some clay ... your imagination is the only limit then. Bare fired clay works great, and most fired glazes are safe, as well. I have a couple old sculptures from High School in my tank, and the fish love swimming through them ... I'd love to get back in there and make some stylized multi-level caves and such specifically with my aquarium in mind! Screw the boring prefab caves at the store!
