I bought an interesting book by Dr. Axelrod where he is discussing how one can make homemade food for fish. He even says that fish will eat some table scraps and that's good for variety in a fish's diet. Also read about beefheart for fish.

Can someone please tell me more about how homemade fish food is prepared? (Beef Heart, for example) and if anyone tried this before as a supplement to regular fish food, and how did this work for you and your fish?
Thanks.

My fish like tiny bits of cucumber...I but my beefheart at the pet store....

Good luck!

Are we supposed to par boil lettuce and cucumber for fish like Silver Dollar, or is it okay to give it raw?

most ppl wont give fish beefheart as it can affect the fish, its very rich aparently

cucumber and lettuce can be given 'raw' but make sure you rince it first.

have u not tried giving them honey dew mellon or water mellon?

how about peas (boiled) and broccoli (boiled)

veggies be good for fishes ;)

I didn't know fish can eat watermelon or honey dew. You can just cut a piece and put it in the tank?

:S

I meant I bought (not but) the beefheart at the pet store. And yes, it makes your tank dirty. I did not like it (even though my fish did).

lmo, iv always been told to blanch my peas an proccoli..

and i was also informed that beefheart was too rich for the small fish (wich i have)

sure it maybe ok for bigger fish..

i found a way of recycling ambulia, just dry it and feed to ya fish, i've replaced flskes with it!
