omg! just witnessed my male and female eureka red spawn and BOTH male and female laid eggs. and i didnt get it wrong ive watched them for over an hour and there still at it. i didnt belive it but it definetly happened saw the eggs coming derectly out of both of there vents with both picking the eggs up both mayb only the female holding, seriosly she couldnt fit another in her mouth and shes my big female too. this trio (1m 2f) have produced fry before so it cant be two females spawning so wat the hecks goin?? ill get back to you as the are still spawning.

well the fish were sold to me as a breeding trio and looked to me to be 2 female 1m just as they should have been if any1 saw the fish that breed they would automaticly assume there was one male and one female. they are only new so this is the first time they spawned but waiting to see wether the eggs are fertile.

without venting the suspects to be positive it is possible that you have had 2 females spawn for eachother. I have had it happen in the past and even now. I have also had fish that were supposed to be "male" and turned out to be female as well.
