I bought three bunches of water wisteria about 8 days ago. It's really pretty and looked healthy. That is until I discovered that the stalks were kind of roting inward/going hollow on the inside and the plants were stuck in the gravel by the thin remnants of brown plant stem. Some of the plants have floated to the surface of the water. I have regular gravel and I use an iron enriched fertilizer in my tank. My other plants (java fern and jungle val) are growing fine. What could be causing this and how can I save my plants?

Make sure they are getting enough light. Exactly what is the fertiliser? The stalks may have been damaged by transportation, falling decor or fish.

Do you have lead weights around the stems, because these can crush the stems and cause rotting?

Wisteria is virtually bomb proof, so yours should recover and start growing.

Dave.

just cut off the bottom rotted part and about 2 inchs of side shoots, then replant. I can't kill my water wistera even if I try........
