Hi everyone first post
Going on holidays for 2 weeks and was wondering are VACATION BLOCKS suitable for feeding fry while i'm away.
Thanks for your help.

nope, vacation blocks are awful.

for most fish i'd advise leaving them for 2 weeks, they'd be fine and find plenty to eat. for fry i would suggest getting an automatic feeder and putting fry flake type food into it, can set it to drop in several times a day which is best for fry.

Two weeks? I don't think fish will survive two weeks without being fed. Two days, yes, but not two week. An automatic feeder is a good choice, but make sure you test it before you just fill it and set it to go. They tend to over feed. Also, there are a lot of automatic feeders that feed twice a day. Possibly putting it on a timer so it's only powered 12 hours a day would give you one feeding a day. Without being able to water change for two weeks, you don't want bioload to build up. Putting in some no fuss plants like Java Moss might allow you to suck up some of the nutrients.

fry probably not, but for a tank of standard community tropicals they can quite easily last 2 weeks without feeding. in the wild fish live on the brink of starvation

auto feeders are a good way to go. some a little more money but at least you will have your fishies when you get back.

As it is, we should be fasting our fish one day per week. They can, and do, not only survive but thrive when left without food if you're away. :good:

Im off for a week come monday and ill just feed them the morning i leave and then the evening when i return. They will be fine
