Hello all

I am going away and is intending to use holiday food for my tank. The only other fish I have is a group of guppies.

I am worried as in a trial the guppies are really greedy and snapped up the food as they can nibble non-stop, but the Corys can't? Teh Corys do not seem to be getting any of the food. The holiday food are chunks, so will the Corys be able to eat any of it over the week? I can also leave algae wafers.

Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks.

How long are you going for?

No food at all for a week will actually do them good!! Fish(like any pet) generally get over fed, and a week without food can be good for them and your tank. You may also be surprised at how much natural food is in your tank, especially if it is planted.

I the wild they would often go for weeks without food, so don't worry

I am going for 2 weeks but someone will feed them after a week.

Really? they can survive for weeks? Yes I have a planted tank and the guppies always nibble on the vegetation. I am just worried about the Corys.

Pre-measure the food amount that they will be fed after a week, so that they are not fed more than you would normally do in a single feed, so that there is no uneaten food. Then let them be. They will be fine, and it will be their detox time

They will find food on the plants and around the tank, and it will be good for them to take a break. If your lights are not on a timer be sure to leave them 'Off'. All will be good when you get home.

I have left my tanks alone before, for weeks and they have always been ok
