I'm so sorry to hear about your little guy... I can't really see anything in the picture, which is good-- it means it's not too bad. I would QT him right away and put some aquarium salt and stress coat in to promote healing. If this IS a disease then you NEED TO TREAT IT, PRONTO! HITH (Hole in the Head Disease) creates irrevesible damage. The hole will keep getting bigger (it's bacterial, I think) until you medicate it. Your fish will live a normal life if it recovers, but there will always be a hole. You should look it up, I've never had personal experience with it.

tbh i can't really see anything in the pics?

What are your water stats and what do you feed?

Hole in the head is usually caused by a poor diet or by poor water quality so if both of those are fine i would say that the GT has simply bumped into something

The tank looks a bit too dense of a fish of this size. nature IMO

thanks i wil QT him and try and get better pictures got to go out just now so fingers crossed

cheers again

he is fed on everything, flake, cichlid pellets, dried bloodworm, tubiflex cubes, nitrates are slightly high at the moment but working on this with daily water changes, at risk of people jumping down my throat he is in a 130L tank which i know is too small, but has a large open swimming area across the front

some more pics, dunno about quality
