never had to to treat this before so what do we recomend? A texas cichlid and an oscar.

thanks for the link i'll try that i am going to test the water here in a minute and see what is going on there

my ph is 7.0 ammonia is 0ppm nitrate is 0ppm and nitrite is 0ppm i also have a pacu pleco parrot cichlid and a silver dollar in this tank i did a water change monday i do one about oce every two weeks i have two over head that move 360gph each i only use ro water and the fish have been set up in this tank for about four months. there poop is normal and they seem to have an appitite because the oscar nibbeld on my fingrs when i was getting my water sampels

whats size is your tank?

thats quite a few fish! especially when it includes a pacu which grow to 2ft and for a deep bodied fish, thats a huge fish.

also what size are all the fish currently at.

I don't see how your nitrates can be at 0 with those fish.

i do water changesweekly and have great water and bio media my 125 started to leak two weeks after i started it and hade to transplant them to this one i can maintain the water thats why i was wondering too the pacu is 6in oscar texas and pleco about 4in the parrot and silver dollar are about2-3 in

Try doing twice a week water changes[ 20% at least ] for a while [ maybe 3 times a week at 30 % each ] with that tank and those fish , nitrite should be at Zero , most aquarium water will have measurable nitrate , be it small or large ..........

with that many watr changes these fish will go through a groth spurt. fish produce an enzyme tha tells them wether or not there is room to grow if i start doing that many and that much i will have to find another 125 before im ready

fish also can become ill [ as you know] and even die from poor water quality ..[ kiss those enzymes goodbye ].....my advice is extra water changes , I'm not talking forever , a week maybe 2 .........and besides it isn't all that uncommon for people to do regular water changes every 3 or 4 days either ;) messy fish .

you'll have to feed less , get the max in bio filtration too , esp if you don't want to deal with extra water changes ......

:) good luck
