of all the fish that could be holding it has to be the auratus :X :S .
the male only started showing his colours a couple of weeks ago & already 1 of the girls is holding.
oh well i will just keep a really close eye on them. at the moment they have been no problem in fact the ob zebra does most of the bullying in my tank lol
how long do the auratus hold for ?? i am just going looking on goggle now to find out more info

my yellow lab is holding as well, infact she was holding before the auratus but didn't bother cos she usually swallows the eggs within 2 days. well she hasn't swallowed them yet so i'm keeping my fingers crossed this time :hey: .
all i need now is my yellow tailed acei to breed  :hyper:
trying to decide weather to move them as well. if so when would be the best time to transfer them to a nursery tank ??
thanks for any advice trace

I think both fish have similar incubation periods so about two weeks should be a good time to transfer. They can spit at around 21 days aor after so it is good to let them get settled in the new tank. I think that you may have problems if you put them in the same tank as they may eat each others fry. They are usually pretty hungry by the time they spit. Also lots of hiding spots and cover as it helps they mom feel secure enough to spit.

yeah i was thinking that putting them together wouldn't be a good idea when they're ready to spit.
think i may put a divider up in my other 4 foot tank & let them have a side each. will see how it goes as the lab usually swallows her eggs or at least she has the last 4 times she been holding lol

well they are still both holding :hyper: i really thought that 1 or both of them might have swallowed by now but no.
thinking of moving the lab into a holding tank next week, she will have been holding for 2 weeks then so will give her time to relax in her new surroundings before she spits.
not to sure on the auratus because of their nature they may be hard to rehome so might just leave her in the main tank. not sure yet though
