This idea was originally found in some stupid article I read on a fish site. The guy there claimed that blowing gently through a straw or something of the like, that you could add Co2 to your tank?

A ) Wouldnt other crap be in your breath that could harm your fish?

B ) How would you know the exact amount your placing into your tank?

C ) If this is possible, why arent hundreds of fishkeepers talking about it? Id rather do that then purchase a co2 kit.

I read and article where a guy would exercise and breathe into a trash bag. Then he put his air pump into the bag and sealed it with a tie thing. He said the air pump pulled it into the tank and raised his co2 levels up just like with the other small kits.
I don't know how true that is, but he said it worked.

It would be hugely inefficient. The air we exhale contains around 4% CO2 (we only use about 4% of the O2 in the air we breathe in and the Nitrogen level stays constant at around 79%).

So you would actually be putting very little CO2 into the tank compared to the volume of gas being dissolved.

It would also mean you'd have to stand next to the tank the whole time the lights were on in order to keep a constant level of CO2 in the water

as sam said you'd have to live next to the tank with a straw in your mouth all day long. and even then you would get no way near the right level of co2. also the bubbles created by your breath at the surface would create so much agitation that you would probably reduce the overall co2 level further.

thanks for sharing your thoughts lol. i can see it now a load of skint planted aquarists with no job because they cant leave the tank and cant even collect their dole money.
