Within the past 2 weeks Ive been noticing that my archers have formed a tightly packed hierarchy, which was to be expected, but now they seem to take their quarrels out on some of the other tank mates as well... ve noticed them rushing towards the rainbows im my tank, but the rainbows not really caring and just brush off the assault... however its a different story for my African knifefish... whenever he rarely attempts to come out (besides for a breath of air) my archers do the same thing...its not any physical damage or harm just a flaunting bluff of flashing fury....being extremely shy and retiring my knife fish is, its keeping him at bay even at feeding time.

So i think ill re home the little guy to a more so chill tank and set plans for some more so semi- aggressive tank mates.

So what im thinking...after the knife fish is gone....

9 tiger barbs
1 red tailed black shark

and was also wondering what you all think of these two species combined with the opaline or yellow gourami.....can they hold their own? I used to have an opaline and he was a #29### no doubt..

possibly 2 male opalines and 3 females to replace the rainbows? I kinda want to replace the rainbows because they just dont look right in my tank...sounds weird but it just doesn't showcase their beauty as much as i thought it would... idk id probably keep them...just wish i kept to one region of fish...i have am ich for keeping fish that are within the same region of one another...

any thoughts on the planned additions/replacements?

I would think the barbs and shark would be ok. I would concerned about territorial disputes between the gouramis and the archers. I think a nice group of sun cats (mystus) would be cool.

Thanks for the idea! ill check out the sun cats!

im actually thinking about just selling off the rainbows and everything besides the archers and go low end brackish to see if the archers are more so responsive or active with slightly salty conditions (no more than 1.005 because ill still be able to keep my vals and java fern and java moss then...)

Ill post in the brackish forum about possible tank mates then..
