Hmm, What Kind Of Algae Eater/bottom Feeder?

I wana find some small bottom feeders/algae eaters 4 my 10gal, any suggestions? my tank has 1 male and 1 female mosquito fish. im goin 2 the fish store 2day, ive got $40. at the store i need: adult fish food (BTW r mosquito fish tropical?), BBS, Liquid fry food, maybe flake fry food, a breeder box/net, and maybe a ghost shrimp or 2 4 my 5gal (which is actually my brothers tank). what do ya think? thnx! -heart , ally86ozzy

I can offer you my opinion and promote the little guy that has worked his tail off in my tank as a number one choice. The bristlenose. He's only little but 'Jacques' as my daughter has named him is a remarkable asset and friendly to all.

or.. the sterbai cory is a nice fish that works hard too. A bit skittish (sp?) though and I believe is happier with a friend and paired.

BN's are an asset 2 any tank and stay relitively small, as for the sterbai 2 isnt enough a min group of 5-6 is recommended and 2 be honest a 10g tank is a little on the small side hence y i suggested a group of pygmies

ive got 2 little long sucky fish that eat all the algae. have no idea what they are tho they were labelled as algae eaters,ill try to get a pic and someone can let us both know

BN's get around 4-5 inches tops and only would need 1 maybe 2 u choice but again 1 would be better for a 10g , pygmies get about 1 inch or so minimum i would get is say 5 upto say 8 in that size tank depending wot the other stocking is.


the algae eater shelaghfishface is talking about is a chinese algae eater i think there better none in LFS as sucking loaches

no so called algae eater will be suffiently fed just solely on tank algae a suplement of algae wafer various vegi's and occasional live/frozen food (bloodworm , brine shrimp , daphnia etc...) will be needed.

mosquito fish i think are tropical i but have no knowledge of them wotsoever so hopefully some 1 else can help u out with that 1

hell no!! that would mean i had a very very big tank, they are actually my platy fry same as the blue in the pic but younger and lots smaller

oh theyre platy oops. they looked like goldfish! i just got Nintendogs Chihuahua and Frends, i got cuz yesterday wuz my birthday party, my actual birthday isnt until wednesday. ive got 2 doggies already, Cookie and Sparky. ANYWAYS, heres my new shopping list: tropical adult fish food, BBS (2 packs, bottles, whatevs), liquid fry food, maybe flake fry food, a breeder trap/box/net, a ghost shrimp or 2, algae wafers, and ima go 2 Price Chopper 2 and get a cucumber. i also might get a guppy to accompany my lonly one, not sure bout that, tho. do guy guppies get along? and more suggetsions for bottom feeders/algae eaters would be appreciated. thnx! -heart , ally86ozzy
