Well, today Calcifer was hiding in his fake plants as usual.. they're near the top.. or maybe he likes the top? Is this normal? Anyway, one plant peaks out out of the top of the 2.5 - 3 gallon bowl. I figured he would want more foliage, so I bent the plant down in a circle so there was some leaves on the top but not as many, and more foliage on bottom-ish. Altogether, it looked more enjoyable. But then he got a little restless, just swimming around.. no vertical bars, at least not that I can see. I gave him some food and he settled down a bit, but he's still more restless. Good.. or bad??

I just checked on him.. He's at the top again.. Like I asked before, is this normal?

My boy Manny always used to hang out on the top leaves of his plant. I think he liked it as a resting spot and being closer to the top means he doesn't have to swim as far to get air. Lazy little so and so ;) As long as he's eating and swimming okay and nothing is visibly wrong with him I'd say he's fine and has just adopted it as his hang out spot. My boys also "patrol" their tanks, so maybe that's what the restlessness is.

That's probably it. :) He's eating fine, day after tommorow is mosquito-larvae day.. yum.. I'll probably skip on feeding him tommorow because he ate a lot today and yesterday. He just got here a few days ago.. so he's probably just becoming more territorial. Or something.

If he's only new, then it does sound like he's getting a bit more confident, checking out everything and patrolling his new patch.

My Eddie quite often goes all around, checking everything out, every now and again having a rest in some leaves, or hiding behind things.

:grr: mine all have little hidey places and when I look in their tanks they rush out at me. The delta prefers hanging out in his bottom plant, and my 3 old boys all rest their butts on the bottom of the tank...dont even bother to hide :good:

 Silly fishes. And some people think they have no attitude.. pfft.

Not he's loitering at the top, all, "food?? :hyper: :hyper: " like. He's such a silly little pig.
