Im just posting to ask the benefits of a hma filter, also I am a bit dubious as the water would come out of the tap at a temp different to the tank so wouldnt this be harmful running directly to the tank through a hma filter ?

They tend to run on a trickle basis as they're not the quickest of things. On a tank of any sensible size the temperature difference isn't too much.

As I just use water treatmenr when changing would you suggest getting a hma or just doing the water changes by bucket ?

There are two options, dose the whole tank volume with dechlorinator and then add direct to the tank, or add via buckets and dose the buckets. The first is often quicker but higher in dechlorinator use, the second is more long winded but a lot cheaper in chemicals.

HMA's are fantastic when ran through a 'trickle' system!.I have a 400ltr planted tank and used to dread water changes, now it is syphoning out 20ml a minute 24/7,with HMA'ed water coming in via a float valve in the tank. All in all a 50% weekly water change without lifting a finger!.Cannot recommend them enough!
