Hiya my name's Lynz from Bolton, I'm 20 and live with Tony. We have a 3 foot tropical community aquarium and are aboutt o set up a 2 foot coldwater (yay!)
Our tropical tank has been established for 15 months and is a real feature in our living room!
We also have a dog, Tilly, a cat, Whisper, 4 fancy rats and a hamster.
Anyway, nice to find such a lively fish forum - we hope to learn loads more about our hobby in which we're relative beginners.
:D

Cool

:hi: to the forum!

What are you putting in the coldwater tank? I had a 4ft (160litre) one until today, but I gave away all my goldfish to someone with a pond.

Look forward to posting with you

hi dana
would love to get my hands on some far eastern bitterlings for my coldwater... failing that i love the colour of black moors but am not keen on some of the scary freaky looking fancy goldfish that are about :(
I used to have 3 beautiful common goldfish in the tank with black substrate and they lookd amazing. So maybe i'll go down that route again :)

Sounds good, just remember to not put too many in. They need much more water than tropicals. ;)

I am a bit scared of the fancies too. I never kept them.

ooh no i didnt mean all of them at once lol!
more 'either/or'
with us not driving we're really limited as to suppliers we can get to though so i think i'd tend to go for the healthiest looking coldwater fish they had.
I've previously kept 2 fantail types in that tank and they lasted around 18 months.
Some you see are just gross though - huge swollen bodies or those big bubble eyes :( it's such a shame.
As i say i feel that really healthy, good specimens of the common goldie can look stunning and far more hardy.
