Hillstream Loach

Hi whats your views on the hillstream loach? I dont know anything about them so some info would be good thanks, what size tank, water, tank mates etc D

Hillstream loaches need excellent oxygenation, fast flowing water and relatively cold water (ie cooler than most tropical species). They aren't particularly fussed on tank size, but if you have a long tank with powerheads to create a longitudinal current, zebra danios or White CLoud Mountain Minnows are excellent tank mates.

If you haven't got the length for that, platies are good at lower temperatures, IIRC.

If your interested in a species setup then have a look on loaches.com and life in the fast lane. I did a lot of research into their natural habitats and have just set a tank up for them. I wouldnt mind building a river manifold for them when I can afford a bigger tank.
