High Ph Fish

Can anyone tell me some fish that can live in a pH level of 8.4 in a 10 gallon tank? Thanks.

Shell dwelling cichlids, eg. Neolamprologus multifasciatus (Banded Shell Dweller, or often just "Multi")! They'd love the hard water. Very few fish are as interesting to watch as these, in my opinion, and you can fit 4 - 5 in a 10 gallon tank. I've been wanting to set up a tank for them myself, got a bag of shells ready for it even, but the LFS just never seems to get them and I'm scared of ordering fish online.

is ur tap water ph that high? if it is, most likely it will drop once u let it sit for a day or two depending on some variables

Yeah, I was thinking of getting some Shell Dwellers, but they seem uncommon and I doubt I'll see them in my local pet stores. I could at least call them and see, though. Another problem is that I have red cherry shrimp, but I could move those to a spare 5 gallon that was going to hold a betta fish. So I guess if I could find some shell dwellers then everything would be fine.

Most likely will let shrimp live in 5 gallon with betta, and then making the 10 gallon a shell dweller tank, but does anyone else have any suggestions?

One more question before this thread falls into the deep, lol, in a scale of 1-10, 10 being most difficult, how easy is keeping shell dwellers and are they a good fish for a first-time aquarium person? Thanks

You can throw any African cichlid in there, problem is with a tank that small i wouldnt get any more than two since most of the get like 4-6 inches.
