High Nitrite Levels

I have been maintaining a 29 gallon freshwater tank with 6 tiger barbs and 4 serpae tetras. I have done weekly water changes and tank cleaning (have sand) and used my water test kit. According to the test, my nitrite level is almost at 10 ppm and my nitrate levels seem to be within a normal range.


Do I just do another water change? (Did 25% already)

If you are getting nitrite spikes you are either way overstocked or in the middle of a cycle. This must be a new tank?
