ok so i have my 90L (24G) tank
and this week the nitrite levels have been crazy..

for the last 4 days they have been between 0.8 and 1.. which is really bad news!

my levels last night are

amonia 0.05-0.1
nitrate 10
nitrite 0.8

I have been doing 50% water changes every night for the last week, and have tested my tap water and its fine!

what else can i do to bring it down?

I am testing with all 3 test kits, API Nitrite, Tetra Nitite & the strips, and all 3 agree on the figures!!!!!

Thanks

Darren

How long has the tank been set up.
have you increased aeration as that helps when water stats are bad.
What your tap nitrate reading.
Looking by your stats it won't be to long before the tanks cycled.

tap water came up as 0 nitrite,

i have a suitable filter in the tank, and also a volcano that creates airation, so i believe that side is fine.

tank has been set up for 3 weeks i think, and was almost cycled then the nitrites spiked how they are now!

I needed the tap nitrate reading not the nitrite.
Made the classic mistake of adding to many fish to soon.
All you can do is keep up with water changes.
The fish have to go through the ammonia and nitrite process which can damage there gills and burn the fish skin.

It shouldn't take long now just have to stick at it by doing water changes and increasing aeration.
