I bought 4 high fin platy and have today putthem into one of my 4ft tanks which also contains 4 swordtail and 4 regular platy.
Ive noticed that 2 of the swordtails and one of the platys are trying to nip the high fins
How long would you keep an eye on this before moving them.?
The tank is heavily planted and I would prefer to keep them all in there if I thought the nipping would stop but equally I dont want damage done
Thanks

How many males and females do you have in there? Are the ones nipping males by any chance? Or are they all nipping on one female? Since Swordies and Platies are related, they will sometimes tend to fight over girls. Or they could all be hovering around one girl, if she's very pregnant. However, they probably are just establishing the pecking order. I'd give them a couple days to figure it all out. If it appears the Hi-fins are getting majorly stressed out or ripped up, I'd move them. :)

Thanks.
Things seem to have settled down.
Ialways try to keep a ratio of 1 male to 3 females,
If anything starts again I will move them--isnt MTS wonderful! :)
