I've been struggling with high ammonia for a month now. I've been doing 50% water changes 2X a day. Had a thought last night. Check this out.
I tested my tap water already and it had a reading of .5
I added the water conditioner as per the bottle directions. I tested it and it still read .5
I kept adding water conditioner testing it after each addition. I finally got it to read 0 after adding 5X the amount called for on the bottle.
I heard from someone that the water companies use more chemicals in the summer as heat breeds bacteria. Never thought to test the water after adding the conditioner.
