hifins and pintails

Does anyone know at what age we can be able to tell if the fry is hifin or not?

Also anyone know anything about pintail genetics? (dominant or not, etc)

Assuming your talking about swordtails? I've got month old fry right now that I believe was fathered by one of my hi fin males, the mother is a lyretail. I can pretty much tell which are going to be lyretails since about 3 weeks, but I can't really tell yet if any are going to have just the hi fin trait. I'm expecting to see regular fins, hi fins, lyretails and hi fin lyretails out of this cross but so far I'm only seeing reg fins and lyretails that I can be certain of.

Oh, sorry, Polar, I didn't realize there were also hifin swords. I was referring to platies, but I suppose the same rules apply. Thanks!
