My betta has me in a pickle. I wanted to replace his fake plants with real ones because I know they love planted tanks and it'll look better. I removed his thick, tall fake plants he liked to rest in and hang out around so that I could plant some real plants in the ground they were located. So now the tank is a little bare. I have a fake stump with holes in it for him to use as a cave, because I know bettas love caves as well, and now my betta won't come out of hiding in the stump. He at first was very hostile at the cory cats who would venture in and out of the stump but now is just completely out of sight. I've moved around the stump multiple times now to reassure the worst has not yet occured because I can't see him. Should I grow the plants in a different part of the tank and put the fake plants back in until the real ones are fully grown? Should I even worry about it?

If you've just recently made te change he will just take some time to get used to his new surroundings. More plants and hiding places will help in making him feel more relaxed and at ease. :)

You took away his resting place and the one place he felt really secure.  He is most likely really stressed right now which is why he is hiding.  I recommend replacing the big fake plant that he liked so much at least until he gets used to the new look of the tank with the live plants.  This should help him feel a little more secure.

I agree, I would put "his" plant back in, at least til the others grow out.
